Vietnamese electric vehicle producer VinFast has formed a strategic joint venture with French environmental and chemical recovery specialists to establish a closed-loop lithium-ion battery recycling facility in Haiphong. The project addresses end-of-life battery processing for Southeast Asian markets.
Deploying Closed-Loop Hydrometallurgical Extraction
The facility integrates advanced hydrometallurgical recovery processes to extract high-purity nickel, cobalt, and lithium from spent battery packs. These recovered raw materials will be re-introduced into precursor production chains, lowering raw material dependence and manufacturing costs.
Aligning with European Circular ESG Standards
This initiative enables VinFast to meet stringent European Union battery passports and circular economy regulations. By securing a sustainable battery supply chain, the automaker strengthens its market compliance for ongoing commercial expansion across European territories.
