Proparco, the private sector financing arm of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), has finalized a landmark green credit facility targeted at commercial banks in Vietnam. This targeted liquidity injection directly funds medium-scale solar and onshore wind infrastructure installations nationwide.

Empowering Local Commercial Banks

By routing capital through established Vietnamese banking institutions, Proparco ensures rapid deployment of low-interest loans for private energy developers. This structural mechanism reduces the collateral burdens traditionally associated with long-term infrastructure debt, lowering barriers for sustainable capital expansion.

Aligning with PDP8 Climate Targets

This massive allocation of green capital supports Vietnam’s overarching Power Development Plan 8 (PDP8) targets. By actively replacing regional coal reliance with zero-emission generation assets, French development finance provides the necessary foundations for localized industrial supply chains to meet global corporate ESG requirements.
